Normally, when I go from Oppo to other Kinja sites my logon doesn’t transfer. In fact, depending on which computer I use, I can’t log on to any Kinja blog outside of Oppo. That’s been happening for a long time now and is not the subject of this post.
Recently, I now have been seeing my login transfer over, such as to Jalopnik or The Takeout. But here is the strange thing: every time I’ve tried to star a post, instead of adding a star, it takes one away . I just now ran across a post by JimZ on The Takeout and clicked, thereby taking away from his star count (sorry Jim!). So bizarre. But original and creative.

Kinja does downvoting now?
But seriously, yeah I’ve had that happen a couple of times, although not recently. The closest thing that I experience regularly is how Kinja won’t consistently keep the star lit up blue on posts that I’ve already starred. And me, not remembering that I already starred it, will click, thus taking away the star that I already gave. Of course when I re-star it, no doubt the recipient is getting a new notification...

Goddamn son-of-a-bitch, I work my ass off for those stars!
jk.
I think the login problem might have to do with browsers implementing stronger cross-site scripting restrictions. I was having the same problem about a month ago here, as well as on sites using Disqus for comments (used my Google login for Disqus.) Maybe they’re tweaking things.

Oh, so that was you?

The floggings will continue until morale improves.

Yeah, this. I think the count gets off, too.

I think sometimes it even forgets I starred and lets me give another, although only on Oppo.

Yeah, I owe you 25 internets as an apology. Sorry!
That may be it. I’ve been using lots of different work arounds for a long time now with Kinja. Nothing works perfectly or for very long.

Yep, I was also the one that crept into your yard and stole your newspaper.

Check if your browser or any plug ins block third-party cookies. That will cause this behavior.

My Kinja doesn’t like my iPhone so I get into this infinite login loop. It’s fun.

I thought I’d dealt with that but I’ll check again.

I’ve had the star thing happen occasionally several times over the years.

It’s a new experience for me. Nothing is consistent in Kinjaworld. It’s a never ending funhouse.

Not working right now. That’s Kinja for ya.

If you have your browser in private mode this will happen, only use private for furry porn.

I mean, I’ve accidentall y taken away stars from a post after forgetting I’d already starred them, but this is just on a whole other level.

Good quote.
A funhouse to me always felt like some one having fun at my expense.

Oh, I go to click on these and I can take away star after star after star with each click. It’s like an evil superpower.

No furries, just Kinja. Actually, I think it’s the Google -> Kinja transition that craps out (I use Google login).
